Luxury Custom Homes and Renovations in SouthPark, Charlotte
Artistic Contractors is a Charlotte luxury custom home builder and design-build firm based on Fairview Road in SouthPark. Artistic Contractors was founded in 2010, and President & Co-Owner Daron Gaon has been a licensed North Carolina General Contractor since 2006.
We build new custom homes throughout the Charlotte area. In established SouthPark-area neighborhoods, though, many projects start with an existing home rather than an empty lot. Some owners want to rework a dated floor plan. Others want to expand a home they already love. A few decide to rebuild nearly everything within the original structure. Our experience helps you decide what to keep, what to change, what to expand, what to rebuild and what to replace.
A SouthPark Builder, Based on Fairview Road
Our office is at 5960 Fairview Road, Suite 400, in SouthPark. We are a small team, and you work directly with the owners. The same people who discuss your goals at the first meeting stay involved through design, budgeting and construction.
Our process follows the same four-step structure: land analysis, design, budget development and construction. Read more on our custom home building process page. That structure applies whether we are building a new home or taking on a major renovation or addition. It gives you clarity before groundbreaking.
Recent Work in SouthPark, Cotswold and Selwyn
South Park Modern Make Over

The South Park Modern Make Over transformed a dated, compartmentalized home into a bright, contemporary space built around how the homeowner wanted to live and entertain. Working with architect Peter Brooks, we removed nearly every interior wall to connect the previously separated dining, kitchen and living areas. We moved the powder room to the existing back laundry area. A large custom island with generous seating now anchors the kitchen. Beside it, a beverage and coffee station includes a hidden TV and a built-in kegerator. We updated the existing see-through brick fireplace with modern white tile and a custom-built fire insert with remote control.
Charming Cotswold Cottage

The Charming Cotswold Cottage began as a tri-plex: two separate living spaces on the first floor and a rental unit upstairs. Working with Craig Cox of Cox Architecture, we gutted the structure to the foundation and exterior studs. Then we rebuilt the home from there upward, including a completely new brick veneer. The result is essentially a new single-family residence within the original framework. It has an open kitchen and living area with a large central island. The rest of the home keeps a more classic, room-by-room layout with traditional fireplaces and detailed stair railings.
Elegant Cotswold Craftsman

The Elegant Cotswold Craftsman pairs classic Craftsman character with a clean, modern interior. Outside, crisp white siding, dark shutters and a welcoming front porch fit naturally into the neighborhood. Inside, warm hardwood floors run through the main living areas. A stone fireplace anchors the open living room, and the kitchen is bright, with white cabinetry. Custom built-ins and detailed millwork add storage without cluttering the design.
Traditional Selwyn Chalet

The Traditional Selwyn Chalet started as a 1,000-square-foot cottage built in 1939. The owners wanted to preserve its character, so the front façade was left essentially unchanged. We expanded the home from the rear, following the existing roof slope so the addition feels natural from the street. The addition brought approximately 2,300 heated square feet. Inside, traditional moldings and cabinetry come in light colors. Cased arch openings define the larger entertaining spaces without closing them off. Carrara marble in the kitchen and master shower sits alongside a butcher-block countertop and a clawfoot soaking tub.
The projects above illustrate three different paths. One reworked the interior of an existing home. One expanded a 1939 cottage from the rear. One rebuilt nearly everything within an original structure. The Elegant Cotswold Craftsman shows the result we aim for on every path: a home that fits its street and lives like a modern custom home. Two of these projects were designed with outside architects: Peter Brooks on the South Park Modern Make Over, and Craig Cox of Cox Architecture on the Charming Cotswold Cottage. You can see more completed homes on our work page.
Renovate, Expand or Build New? Start With the Property
In an established neighborhood, the right answer is not always obvious. Depending on the existing home and the land beneath it, the best decision may be to renovate, expand, substantially rebuild or build new. That is why our process begins with land analysis, before any design work starts.
We look at lot size, topography, drainage, sun exposure, stormwater requirements, views, tree coverage, setbacks, buffers and utilities. This review helps us spot potential challenges early. It also helps us decide on the best placement and orientation for new construction or an addition. Just as important, it tells you what is realistically possible on your property before you invest heavily in design.
Two Ways to Build With Artistic Contractors
Design with Artistic. Our in-house team handles design, photorealistic 3D visualization, engineering coordination and construction planning. Daron Gaon creates photorealistic 3D renderings for many of our projects. You can see room scale, finishes, views and how each space will actually live before you approve the design. Bring your own architect or plans. Already working with an architect? We can review and refine your plans, coordinate engineering and provide detailed pricing. We also work through construction issues before groundbreaking, so you can make informed decisions before the build begins. If you are still in design, we can join the project early and give the architect ongoing budget and constructability input as the plans develop.
Budgeting Before Groundbreaking
Before construction begins, we develop a detailed budget and written scope directly from your architectural plans. We measure the drawings with digital takeoffs and price the home as designed. We don’t rely on broad assumptions or artificially low allowances. Core scopes such as foundation, framing, structure and HVAC are priced and locked before the build begins. Finish allowances are calibrated to your preferences.
For preliminary planning, our current Charlotte cost guide uses approximately $400–$750+ per heated square foot for new luxury custom homes, with highly customized projects potentially exceeding that range. Major renovations and additions are priced according to their individual scope rather than applying a generic new-construction number. Our guide to the cost to build a luxury custom home in Charlotte explains what drives the number for new homes.
Warranty and Who You’ll Work With
Every new Artistic Contractors home includes our comprehensive one-year builder’s warranty. Optional 2-10 warranty coverage is available at an additional, separately quoted cost. Warranty coverage for renovations and additions is determined by the specific project scope and the terms of the written construction agreement.
Daron Gaon, President & Co-Owner, leads the design-build vision. Co-Owner & Vice President Andrew Parker oversees operations and project coordination. Our lead project manager is on-site nearly every day, overseeing quality control and craftsmanship. You deal directly with the people responsible for your home.
