Included With Every New Home: Our One-Year Builder’s Warranty

Every new home we build includes our comprehensive one-year builder’s warranty. Artistic Contractors maintains a written one-year builder’s warranty that can be provided to homeowners, and that written document sets out exactly what is covered, what is excluded and how to request service.

What the builder’s warranty is for

Our builder’s warranty addresses builder responsibility during the first year: workmanship and construction defects, and defects in materials we supplied or components we installed as part of building your home.

A simple example: if a qualifying construction defect appears during the warranty period, it is addressed under the builder’s warranty. If a tree branch falls on the roof during a storm, that damage was not caused by a builder defect and is not a builder’s warranty matter.

What the builder’s warranty is not

The builder’s warranty is not homeowners insurance, and it is not a maintenance plan. Damage from storms, falling trees and other outside events is not a builder defect, and routine upkeep remains the homeowner’s responsibility. The written warranty agreement governs coverage, exclusions and service procedures.

Optional 2-10 Builder Warranty: Two-Year Systems and Ten-Year Structural Protection

For homeowners who want longer-term protection, an optional warranty program administered by 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty is available at an additional, separately quoted cost. We offer the standard 2-10 builder warranty package, which provides three coverage periods:

Year 1: Workmanship

Coverage for qualifying workmanship and materials defects during the first year, as defined in the 2-10 warranty documents.

Years 1–2: Distribution Systems

Coverage for qualifying defects in the home’s distribution systems, the electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems that carry electricity, water, waste and conditioned air through the house, such as wiring, supply and waste piping, and ductwork, as defined in the warranty documents.

Years 1–10: Qualifying Structural Defects

Coverage for qualifying structural defects in the designated load-bearing components of the home, as defined in the 2-10 warranty documents.

How the coverage periods run

The three coverage periods run at the same time, beginning on the warranty effective date stated in the warranty documents. They are not consecutive; the ten-year structural term includes the first two years. Builder obligations, any surety, and structural insurance depend on the warranty agreement issued for the home.

How the 2-10 package relates to our builder’s warranty

Artistic Contractors’ one-year builder’s warranty and the optional 2-10 warranty program are governed by their applicable written agreements. Coverage, responsibilities, exclusions, and claims procedures are determined by those documents. We will explain the applicable terms when preparing your quotation.
