A complete transformation of a Cotswold tri-plex into a warm single-family cottage, combining traditional architecture, an open kitchen and living area, classic interiors, and distinctive room-by-room character.
Charming Cotswold Cottage began as an unusual conversion challenge: a tri-plex with two separate living spaces on the first floor and a third rental space upstairs. Artistic Contractors transformed the divided property into a cohesive single-family home while preserving the traditional character that suited its Cotswold setting.
Working with Craig Cox of Cox Architecture, the existing structure was gutted down to the foundation and exterior studs. From that point upward, the home was rebuilt, including a completely new brick veneer, creating what is essentially a new residence within the original framework.
The interior balances traditional detailing with a warm, comfortable atmosphere. The main living and kitchen areas use an open layout, with a large central island, custom cabinetry, detailed millwork, and rich hardwood floors creating a natural gathering space.
Beyond the main living areas, the home returns to a more classic, separated layout, allowing each room to have its own character. Traditional fireplaces, detailed stair railings, classic bathrooms, and individually styled spaces give the cottage a sense of personality throughout.
The result is a thoughtful transformation that turns a collection of separate rental spaces into a warm, character-filled single-family home with a distinctly traditional feel.
