Home Remodeling Addition Project In Charlotte
Over the past 10 years multi-generational living is becoming more and more prevalent. Children are staying at home longer and grandparents are moving back in as they age.
This project was a great example of that trend. The owners had the decision of putting the husband’s mother in an assisted living facility or creating a space for her at their current home. When you do the math, adding on to your current home is a no-brainer. Assisted living facilities are very expensive and adding on to your own home just increases the value.
The photos you see are of the new master suite off the back of the existing home. The mother took the old master suite so the owners created a new one for themselves.
The new addition area was almost a second home. It created nice separation and privacy between the mother when it was needed. A single pocket door was the only way to access entry between the two spaces.
The expansion had its own mini kitchen with fridge, sink and microwave. It also had a private covered deck off the master bedroom. The master bath had an oversized custom tile shower. The master closet was built with all custom wood shelving. The owners in the end were thrilled with the big and bright finishes and the overall functionality of the concept.
